Finally some good news from the world of FedEx Ground..... I mean the wounderful company of FedEx Ground, the company that takes care of all you shipping needs. (one of the service managers there has my LJ address, so i put a commercial in there for ya Todd, you owe me $5) Anyway, it took way to long, but the managers finally got tired of being there till 1130 or midnight everynight, and complained about it to their higher ups. They decided that if they hired another P/D driver, pickup and delivery, the guys who get the trailers for us, that we would finish sooner. Not only did they higer another driver, they redid the schedule to make more sense. We still get the same amount of frieght, but it is back quicker, and we don't go dry anymore. This is geat, because 1/3 - 1/2 the frieght is back as soon as we start.
So, instead of working till midnight, and waiting a half hour, we start a half hour earlier, and wrap up around 1000 - 1030. They also, hired enough help to handle all the frieght we get each night, which is anywhere between 13,000 to 18,000, but averages 15,000 a night.
So, we'll have to see how long this lasts, and hopefully its step one in the revamp of the outbound shift they said has been coming since i started there 8 months ago.
